Living in Brookline

Brookline is a diverse community with something for everyone: rentals in densely populated village centers; row houses; condominiums; starter homes; and luxurious multi-million dollar estates. The bustling village centers of Brookline Village and Coolidge Corner have an urban feeling. Independently owned shops and restaurants and the Coolidge Corner Theatre, a resplendent art-deco style cinema, are highlights.

The Town has a strong public school system and numerous well known private schools. There is a wide variety of enrichment centers including the Brookline Teen Center, the Senior Center, and the Brookline Arts Center. The town is especially desirable for dog owners; the community has established14 off-leash dog parks. For recreation there are lots of small neighborhood parks and playgrounds, and two reservoirs for walking. You will find larger open spaces at Lars Anderson Park and Auto Museum, Hammond Pond Reservation, and Lost Pond Conservation Area.

Several lines of trolley service along the Green Line provide easy access to Boston. Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, is nearby, as is the Longwood Medical Area and the Harvard Medical School. Pill Hill, a neighborhood of Brookline, earned its name from the many doctors living in close proximity to the hospitals.
