Even with its premium real estate values, Chestnut Hill has remained a sought after market primarily due to its close proximity to downtown Boston, to posh private schools and to country clubs. Home to Boston College, it is a center of vibrant intellectual activity.
Composed partly of Newton, Brookline, and Boston, this community is made up of leafy, sprawling residential estates and high-end shopping areas - The Street, Chestnut Hill Mall, and Chestnut Hill Square. In addition to shops you will find many fine restaurants like Davio’s, Del Frisco’s Grille, Seasons 52, and Aquitaine Bis. Kids flock to the Shake Shack. The former Atrium Mall now houses Life Time Center, a state-of-the-art wellness and healthcare destination and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
There are lots of small neighborhood parks and playgrounds, and two reservoirs for walking, but large open spaces are limited; Lars Anderson Park, Hammond Pond Reservation, and Lost Pond Conservation Area. You’ll still find plenty of old money, but these days there do seem to be more young professionals, as well as plenty of families who want access to the good schools.
Chestnut Hill has its own T stop on the Green Line, but is also a short driving commute into Boston. This is a highly desirable area where you can find the rolling lawns of suburbia without giving up prime access to the City.
