Dover, once known for its gentleman horse farms, is now a suburb of Boston with a population of about 6,000 and a highly rated public school system. Green space is important to the Town and residents care about the rural feel of the community. Opportunities for play and learning abound in one of the many public parks, including, Noanet Woods, Caryl Park and Channing Park and reservations and trails along the 10 miles of the Charles River that runs through Town.
If you are a horseback riding enthusiast, then Dover is the place for you. The Norfolk Hunt Club (founded in 1895) offers seasonal hunts, horse shows, hunter trials, hunter paces and polo.
Dover is a small town with one stop light, but is one of the best places to live in Massachusetts. While the town center has few shops beyond the Dover Market and Dover Café and Deli, one can easily access the hubbub of numerous neighboring towns for boutique or mall shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Don’t miss the Powisset Farm offering a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, along with a vibrant barnyard, farm stand, and teaching kitchen. There are also numerous commuter rail options within a 10 minute drive of Dover. The drive to Boston may take you about 45 minutes.
