Wellesley is the home of Wellesley College and Babson College located just outside of Route 95. Its highly rated public schools and easy access to Boston makes this an attractive community to young professionals and families. Among the towns southwest of Boston, Wellesley has one of the larger town centers and an array of high end boutiques, restaurants, clothing stores and cafes. Linden Square is a newer retail area, offering a variety of shops and a family-owned Roche Brothers grocery store. In the same area, if you like seafood, there is no better fish market/restaurant than Captain Mardens.
There are numerous open-space reservations for outdoor enjoyment. The Gardens at Elm Bank - home of Massachusetts Horticultural Society maintains 200 acres along the Charles River. The Centennial Reservation Trail allows off leash dog walking. The ultimate in serenity can be found along the paths at Lake Waban on the Wellesley College Campus.
Sometimes referred to as “Swellesley” Wellesley’s average house price is higher than those in the surrounding towns, but many say is worth it. Good public schools, pristine homes, manicured neighborhoods, and easy access to Boston make this a lovely town.
